The Cuban flag was first used on April 19, 1850. It was designed by Cuban patriots living in exile in New York City during the Cuban War of Independence against Spain. The flag features three blue and two white horizontal stripes and a red equilateral triangle with one white star in its center.
The Puerto Rican flag was adopted on February 25, 1952, after Puerto Rico became a Commonwealth of the United States. It features five red and four white horizontal stripes and a white equilateral triangle with one blue stars in its center.
