How much paper does the US use in a year?

According to the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the United States uses about 290 million tons of paper per year. This is about 700 pounds of paper per person, and it makes up about 25% of the world's total paper consumption. The majority of paper used in the U.S is for packaging and printing, and about 35% of it is recycled.
