What was a goal of progressive reforms?

To protect the public from hazards resulting from industrialization and urbanization.

Progressive reformers sought to tackle the negative consequences of rapid industrialization and urbanization. They pushed for reforms to ensure worker safety and protect consumers. Examples include:

* Worker safety laws: Progressive reformers campaigned for laws to improve working conditions and protect workers from hazardous situations, such as requiring safety guards on machinery and limiting the hours of work.

* Pure food and drug laws: Progressive reformers advocated for regulations to ensure the safety and purity of food and drugs. This led to the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906, which prohibited the adulteration and misbranding of food and drugs.

* Anti-trust laws: Progressive reformers also supported anti-trust laws to control the power of large corporations and protect consumers from unfair business practices.
