History of South America

What freedoms are guaranteed by the United States constitution?

The First Amendment guarantees the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom to petition the government. This means you can practice your religion, say and publish what you think, join or form groups, and ask the government to take action on issues that matter to you.

The Second Amendment guarantees your right to keep and bear arms. This means you have the right to have a gun for your own protection and for hunting and other purposes.

The Fourth Amendment protects you from unreasonable searches and seizures. This means the police can't search you or your property without a good reason, and they can't take your things unless they have a warrant.

The Eighth Amendment prohibits excessive bail, excessive fines, and cruel and unusual punishment. This means you have to be able to afford bail if you're accused of a crime, you can't be fined more money than you can afford to pay, and the government can't punish you in a way that's too harsh or unusual.
