What great struggle began in the years before World War 1?

Women's suffrage movement

The women's suffrage movement was a struggle for women to win the right to vote. It began in the mid-19th century and lasted for several decades, before finally achieving success in most countries around the world.

The struggle was led by women who were passionate about gaining equal rights for women. They organized protests, marches, and petitions to make their voices heard. They also worked to raise awareness of the importance of women's suffrage and to educate the public about the issues facing women.

The women's suffrage movement faced many obstacles, including opposition from both men and women. Some people argued that women were not capable of making informed decisions about political issues, while others argued that women should not be allowed to vote because they would be too easily influenced by their husbands or fathers.

Despite the obstacles, the women's suffrage movement eventually succeeded in achieving its goal. The first country to grant women the right to vote was New Zealand in 1893. Other countries followed suit in the years that followed, until finally women in most countries around the world had the right to vote.
