Hymn to the Flag Lyrics

Hail, beautiful banner of hope,
Save august symbol of peace!
Your noble presence in remembrance
The greatness of the Fatherland brings us.

Receive the affection that closes
In our youthful chest,
Dear Earth Symbol,
From the beloved land of Brazil!

In your beautiful breast you portray
This sky of pure blue,
The unparalleled verdure of these forests,
And the splendor of the Southern Cross.

Receive the affection that closes
In our youthful chest,
Dear Earth Symbol,
From the beloved land of Brazil!

Contemplating your sacred form,
We understand our duty;
And Brazil, for its beloved children,
Powerful and happy shall it be.

Receive the affection that closes
In our youthful chest,
Dear Earth Symbol,
From the beloved land of Brazil!

About the immense Brazilian Nation,
In moments of celebration or pain,
Always hangs, holy banner,
Pavilion of Justice and Love!

Receive the affection that closes
In our youthful chest,
Dear Earth Symbol,
From the beloved land of Brazil!

Brazil flag

Brazil had about 11 flags, from the colonial period, through the Empire and to the one we know today. With each change of political regime, the flag was also changed.

The current Brazilian pavilion was created on November 19, 1889:a green rectangle, on which a yellow diamond and a blue circle with stars are superimposed.

Above the circle is a white band with the motto “Ordem e Progresso” written in green.
