One of the most important editorial events of recent times will take place this Friday, December 13, from 5pm., in the Auditorium of the College of Engineers of Huaraz (Jr. Simón Bolívar 680, next to the SUNAT offices). This is the presentation of the Complete Anthropological Work Collection of José María Arguedas, seven volumes that bring together, for the first time, all the non-literary work of our famous writer. This monumental compilation work has seen the light after years of efforts and failed publication attempts, thanks to the commitment of institutions such as Derrama Magisterial and the Instituto de Estudios Peruanos, who carried out this Argumentian project, conceived within the framework of the celebrations for the centenary of his birth.
By going through the pages of each volume of this collection, one ends up understanding the depth of the Andean worldview raised by Arguedas in his works of fiction. The description of rituals that combine the ancestral-indigenous with the Creole-Spanish, his ethnolinguistic studies and conversations with musicians and folklorists, worshipers of popular art, made Arguedas a renowned character in various academic circles, who recognized him not only as an outstanding creator of stories set in the Andes, but as a keen observer and protector of the elements that make up the identity of our country.
The presentation will be given by Dr. Wilfredo Kapsoli Escudero, a student and personal friend of José María, who compiled his pedagogical essays in a book entitled Nosotros los teachers; and will be commented by Dr. Sonia Huemura Paredes, anthropologist and professor at the Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo National University (UNASAM); Professor Pablo Helí Ocaña Alejo, president of the Directorate of Spill Magisterial; and the Master José Salazar Mejía, Regional Director of Culture of Áncash. As an initial act, we will have the participation of DEMAFOLC, a dance cast from Spill Magisterial, made up entirely of teachers, who will offer an anthology of Peruvian dances from our three regions.
This collection of essays and anthropological studies fills an editorial void and pays off an outstanding debt with the author of Deep Rivers, All Bloods, among other classics of our contemporary literature. Finally, 44 years after his death, the production of José María Arguedas is published in its entirety (remember that his literary work was compiled in 1983 by Editorial Horizonte in five volumes, under the title Complete Works).
Derrama Magisterial will deliver 25 collections of the Complete Anthropological Work of José María Arguedas to various municipal libraries and educational institutions in Huaraz, with the aim of disseminating this transcendental compendium.
