What type of currency did the Israelites have?

The Israelites did not have a currency in the sense of coins or paper money. Instead, they used a barter system, in which goods and services were exchanged for other goods and services. For example, a farmer might trade a bushel of wheat for a pair of shoes from a cobbler.

In some cases, the Israelites also used precious metals, such as gold and silver, as a form of currency. However, these metals were not minted into coins, but were instead used in the form of bars or ingots.

It was not until the time of the Roman Empire that coins were introduced to the region of Israel.
