What area of the world did metis people come from?

Métis people are an Indigenous peoples group in Canada who are of mixed European and Indigenous ancestry.

They originated from the fur trade era in the 17th and 18th centuries, when European men (mostly French and Scottish) married or had children with Indigenous women from various First Nations throughout the vast territory that would later become Canada.

The Métis people developed their own distinct culture, language (Michif), and traditions, and played a vital role in the history and development of Canada, particularly in the fur trade, transportation, and political movements.
