What countries mine Jade?

* Myanmar (Burma): Myanmar is the world’s largest producer of jadeite jade. The country has a long history of mining and trading jade, and production is largely centered in the Mogok region in the northern part of the country.

* China: China is another major producer of jadeite jade. The country has several significant jade mining regions, including the Xinjiang province and the Yunnan province. China also imports large quantities of jadeite from Myanmar for domestic consumption.

* Canada: Canada is the world’s largest producer of nephrite jade. The majority of nephrite production in Canada comes from the British Columbia province.

* Russia: Russia is also a major producer of nephrite jade. The country has several jade mining regions, including the Lake Baikal region and the Zabaykalsky Krai.

* New Zealand: New Zealand produces a unique type of jadeite known as “Pounamu”. The country has a long history of jade carving, and Pounamu is highly valued by the indigenous Maori people.
