History of Oceania

Why was the new world given that name by Americans?

Americans did not give the new world that name. The term "New World" was first used by Europeans to describe the Americas, which were considered new land, or new world, compared to the continents known at the time: Europe, Africa, and Asia. The name "New World" does not originate from Americans, but from European explorers and cartographers during the Age of Exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries.
