When did the Israeli-Palestinian conflict start?

The Israeli–Palestinian conflict is a decades-old dispute between the Israeli and Palestinian people. It has its origins in the late 19th century when the first waves of Jewish immigration to Ottoman-controlled Palestine began, and grew more intense in the 20th century. The conflict became increasingly violent after the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, and in the decades that followed, both Israelis and Palestinians engaged in violence against each other.
