Where did the surname nottage originate?

Nottage is an English surname of Cornish origin. It is derived from the placename Nottage, a village in the civil parish of Newton Nottage in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales, which was formerly part of Glamorganshire. The name Nottage is thought to derive from the Old English words hnut, meaning "nut" and haga, meaning "enclosure", referring to a hedge or fence used to enclose a woodland of nut trees.
