Is there a marine corps academy?

The United States Marine Corps does not have a formal academy like the other branches of the military. Instead, Marine Corps officers are commissioned through the Naval Academy, similar to the United States Navy. They then complete additional training and education at The Basic School (TBS), the Officer Candidates School (OCS), or at the Marine Corps University.

Once enlisted Marines have finished basic training, they'll travel to one of three different locations:

* Camp Geiger, North Carolina

* Camp Lejeune, North Carolina

* Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina

Here they'll train in Marine Corps specialties, like aircrewman or military policemen, during an advanced infantry training program.

Marine officers may also complete additional specialized training and education such as flight school, amphibious warfare school, or legal school to prepare them for their specific career paths.
