History of Oceania

What were three reasons for starting the colonies in New World?

1. Religious freedom. Many people in Europe were persecuted for their religious beliefs. They came to the New World to escape persecution and to be able to practice their religion freely.

2. Economic opportunity. The New World offered many economic opportunities that were not available in Europe. There was an abundance of land, resources, and opportunity for trade.

3. Adventure and exploration. Some people were simply looking for adventure and exploration. They wanted to see the New World and experience something different.
