History of North America

Were the vikings earliest explorers of N America?

There is evidence to suggest that the Vikings may have been the earliest European explorers of North America. Norse sagas and other historical accounts mention voyages to a land they called "Vinland," which is believed to have been somewhere in the North Atlantic. Archaeological evidence, such as the remains of a Norse settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland, Canada, further supports this theory. However, it is important to note that there may have been other explorers from other cultures who reached North America before the Vikings, such as the Paleo-Indians who crossed the Bering Strait from Asia thousands of years ago.
