What was a reason US settlers in Texas wanted their independence?

Texas annexation

The primary reason for the Texas Revolution and the subsequent desire for independence was the annexation of Texas by the United States. The settlers wanted to be part of the United States, and they believed that annexation would bring economic and political benefits. However, the Mexican government was reluctant to give up Texas, and the settlers feared that they would be unable to protect their interests if they remained part of Mexico.
