When did they start building the wtc?

Construction of the original World Trade Center (WTC) in New York City began in August 1968 and was completed in 1973. The main buildings, the North Tower and the South Tower, were the tallest buildings in the world at the time of their completion. The entire complex, designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, included seven buildings spread over a 16-acre site in Lower Manhattan. The construction costs for the original WTC totaled approximately $750 million (equivalent to $5.47 billion in 2023).
