How were Texas unionists treated in the civil war?

Unionists in Texas were treated poorly during the Civil War, and many had their property confiscated and were exiled or put in prison. The legislature and the governor had fled the state, and Texas had become a military district of the Confederacy. Some unionists were disarmed and threatened, and several who were unwilling to convert to the Confederate cause were arrested by Confederate authorities.

They would be sent to military prisons such as Camp Ford, where they suffered harsh treatment.
