Who where the American adversaries during cold war?

During the Cold War, the main adversary of the United States was the Soviet Union. The conflict between the two nations was centered on ideological differences, with the United States promoting democracy and capitalism, while the Soviet Union favored Communism. Additionally, there was geopolitical rivalry and an arms race which further fueled tensions. Other countries or ideological blocs often aligned with one of the rival superpowers; such as China aligning more closely with the Soviet Union in early stages, or the Warsaw Pact nations siding with the Soviet Union throughout. The cold war ultimately led to significant diplomatic efforts and strategic measures designed to balance their respective capabilities and spheres of influence in regions across the globe
