History of North America

Why does NC not have a large port city like the neighboring states to north and south?

North Carolina does have large port cities. The two largest are Wilmington and Morehead City. The Port of Wilmington is the largest seaport in North Carolina and the 8th largest on the East Coast of the United States. It is located on the Cape Fear River and handles over 2 million tons of cargo annually. The Port of Morehead City is located on the Atlantic Ocean and handles over 1 million tons of cargo annually.
