History of North America

What was the largest North American slave uprising?

The largest slave uprising in North America was the Stono Rebellion, which occurred in 1739 in the colony of South Carolina. The rebellion was led by a slave named Jemmy, and it involved between 20 and 100 slaves. The slaves marched from Stono Bridge toward Charleston, looting plantations and killing white settlers along the way. The rebellion was eventually suppressed by the colonial militia, and Jemmy was executed.
