How much did land cost in the 1776?

In the 1776 in the United States, land prices varied greatly depending on factors such as location and quality. In general, the cost of an acre of undeveloped land in the colonies ranged from a few shillings to a few pounds. For example, in Pennsylvania, an acre of land could be purchased for as little as five shillings in the 1770s, while in New Jersey, an acre could cost as much as five pounds. In comparison, in 2022 an acre of land in certain regions of United States can range from thousands to millions of dollars.
