Did men from California serve in one of the armies civil war?

Yes. Men from California served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Although California had not yet been admitted to the Union as a state, many of its residents were strongly opposed to slavery and saw the war as an opportunity to fight for their beliefs. Several regiments of California Volunteers were raised, and they fought in numerous battles throughout the war, including the Battle of Gettysburg, the Battle of Chickamauga, and the Battle of Vicksburg.
