What does the Yukon coat of arms mean?

Escutcheon:

- The lower portion displays, on two pale blue horizontal wavy bars or waves (representing the Yukon and Lewes Rivers), gold scales (for justice), between six red crosses couped on the upper wavy line, and six red triangles representing mountains on the lower one

- The two crosses and three peaks of Mount Lorne form an apex with the central and highest peak above the scales representing justice

Supporters:

A male woodland caribou on the viewer's left and Dall ram on the viewer's right holding between them, below the shield, a Yukon Gold Pan containing gold nuggets on a bed of moss

Compartment: (the grassy ground supporting all this) bears red and white wildflowers of Yukon

Coronet Crest:

A mounted prospector, representing the spirit of Yukon people on their long and colourful history

Scroll and Motto:

A banner in gold bearing the Latin words, “Clavum clavo pangere" and in translation, a Yukon government motto means to “Drive out one nail with another”; implying “a wrong with a right".
