History of North America

Were any of the convention delegates federalists?

No, none of the delegates were federalist. The Constitutional Convention was held specifically to address the shortcomings of the Articles of Confederation, which had left the national government weak and ineffectual. The delegates were tasked with creating a new framework of government, and their deliberations resulted in the creation of the United States Constitution. The federalists were a group who supported the ratification of the Constitution, and they emerged as a political party during the ratification debates.
