Where was the first town founded?

The ancient city of Uruk, in southern Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq), is widely considered to be the first town founded. Uruk was established in around 4000-3500 BCE and developed into a major urban center during the Uruk period. It is believed to be the birthplace of writing, with the development of the world's earliest writing system known as cuneiform, used by the Sumerians who inhabited the region. Uruk was a significant cultural, economic, and religious center, featuring important temples, administrative buildings, and residential areas. The city played a crucial role in shaping the development of early civilization and urban life in the Middle East.
