Cesar Chavez achieved some of his goals but not all. He fought for higher wages and better working conditions for farm workers, as well as better housing and other social benefits. He was successful in winning several strikes and negotiating contracts with growers that improved the wages and working conditions for farm workers. He also helped found the United Farm Workers union, which represented hundreds of thousands of farm workers. However, some growers resisted organizing efforts and farm workers continued to face poverty and poor working conditions. Chavez also spoke out against the use of dangerous pesticides and worked to improve nutrition, housing, and education for farm workers.
