Why was the black panther party number one threat to nation security in US?

The Black Panther Party was not the number one threat to national security in the United States. The FBI considered multiple extremist groups to be the number one domestic security threat at various points in the late 1960s and 1970s, including the Ku Klux Klan and violent offshoots of the New Left, such as the Weather Underground.
