After the United States, Israel was the second most popular destination for Jewish refugees. Many of these refugees were displaced by the Arab-Israeli war of 1948.
Canada

Canada also accepted a significant number of Jewish refugees. The Canadian government was initially reluctant to admit refugees, but public pressure eventually forced them to relax their restrictions.
