Did William first wife die?

William I (also known as William the Conqueror) was the Duke of Normandy who successfully invaded England in 1066 and became its king. He had only one wife, whose name was Matilda of Flanders. Matilda was the daughter of Baldwin V, Count of Flanders. She and William were married in 1053. They had four sons and five daughters together. Matilda died on 2 November 1083 at the age of about 54. She was buried at the Abbey of the Holy Trinity in Caen, Normandy.
