Circe was a goddess and powerful sorceress in Greek mythology. She was known for her ability to transform people into animals, and for her skills in potion-making and herbology. Circe lived on the island of Aeaea, which was located somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea. Odysseus and his men visited the island of Circe as they were returning home from the Trojan War. Circe turned most of Odysseus's crew into pigs, but she allowed Odysseus to escape. Odysseus was able to free his crew and escape from the island with Circe's help.
Here are some of the things Circe did:
- Transformed Odysseus's men into pigs
- Gave Odysseus herbs to protect him from her magic
- Told Odysseus how to get home
- Helped Odysseus find the souls of his dead crew members
- Gave Odysseus advice on how to defeat the Sirens
- Warned Odysseus about the dangers of Scylla and Charybdis
- Instructed Odysseus on how to navigate the sea to reach Ithaca
