After the gunpowder plot failed, Thomas Percy, John Wright, and Robert Catesby fled London to the nearby town of Holbeach in Staffordshire. There they were joined by other conspirators, including Guy Fawkes. The group attempted to escape to Wales but were pursued by the authorities. In a final confrontation at Holbeach House, Wintour and Catesby were killed, while Percy was mortally wounded. Fawkes was captured and later executed.
