Parks was released from jail after posting bail, but she was still forced to stand trial for violating the segregation laws. She was found guilty and fined $14. She appealed the decision, and her case eventually made its way to the Supreme Court, which ruled in her favor in 1956.
Parks died of natural causes in 2005 at the age of 92. Her parents, Leona and James McCauley, were both deceased at the time of her death. They were both very supportive of Rosa's decision to stand up for her rights, and they were proud of her for making a difference in the world.
