What happens to king agamemnon when he returns home after the Trojan war?

When King Agamemnon returns home after the Trojan War, he finds that his wife, Clytemnestra, has been unfaithful to him during his absence. She and her lover, Aegisthus, have plotted to kill Agamemnon as soon as he returns.

When Agamemnon arrives, Clytemnestra pretends to welcome him home and invites him to a feast. However, the feast is a trap. As Agamemnon enters the palace, Clytemnestra and Aegisthus attack him and kill him.

The murder of Agamemnon is a significant event in Greek mythology, as it leads to a chain of events that will eventually result in the fall of the House of Atreus. Clytemnestra's and Aegisthus's actions will be avenged by Agamemnon's son, Orestes, who will kill both of them in revenge for his father's murder.
