Historical story

How could a writ of mandamus force Madison to comply with the order in case Marbury v. Madison?

A writ of mandamus could not force Madison to comply with the order in the case Marbury v. Madison because the Supreme Court did not issue a writ of mandamus in that case. Instead, the Supreme Court ruled that it lacked original jurisdiction over the case, and therefore, it could not issue a writ of mandamus.
