Historical story

Where does the name shoe cobbler come from?

The term "cobbler" is believed to have originated in Middle English, where it was used to refer to a person who mended shoes. The word "cobble" itself comes from the Old English word "cobbel", which means "small stone". Cobblers would use these small stones to repair shoes, hence the name. Over time, the term "cobbler" became associated specifically with shoe repair and is still used today to refer to a person who fixes shoes.
