Where did Billy Bishop train to be a pilot?

Billy Bishop, one of the top flying aces of the First World War, initially tried to enlist with the Royal Naval Air Service, but was denied due to poor eyesight. However, he managed to train as a pilot at his own expense at the Curtiss Flying School in Toronto, Canada. He received his pilot's license on 13 August 1915 and was accepted into the Royal Flying Corps shortly after.
