What is Lupercal in the play Julius Caesar?

The Lupercal is a cave where the festival of Lupercalia is celebrated. The festival is held on February 15th and is in honor of the god Lupercus, who is associated with fertility. During the festival, young men would run naked through the streets, striking women with whips made from the hide of sacrificial goats. It was believed that this would make the women fertile. The Lupercal is also the place where Julius Caesar was offered the crown by Mark Antony.
