Historical story

How many people died along the California trail?

The California Trail was a challenging and dangerous route, and it is estimated that approximately 1 in 10 emigrants died during the journey. This equates to around 600-700 deaths per year during the peak years of the mid-1850s. The primary causes of death were cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and other diseases, while accidents, malnutrition, and exposure were also contributing factors.
