Birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci in Anchiano (FI)
The birthplace of Leonardo is located in Anchiano, about 3 kilometers from Vinci, in the province of Florence.
It is a typical country house in stone, with a simple and linear shape, which rises from an expanse of centuries-old olive trees gently nestled among the Tuscan hills.
The current landscape is not very different, indeed it is substantially identical to what Leonardo saw as a child and the atmosphere that still breathes it today, helps the visitor to understand what must have been the first human and personal formation of the illustrious character .
Interior of Leonardo's house
The interior of the house consists of three rooms, of which many original elements are preserved, such as the large fireplace and the terracotta floor.
Within these walls, the Renaissance genius was born on April 15, 1452.
Exactly 500 years later, in 1952, Leonardo's birthplace was transformed into a museum.
Since then, it has been the destination of an incessant cultural pilgrimage which also includes the beautiful village of Vinci.
Recently restored, the building / museum now makes use of interactive contributions aimed at better understanding the close link between the artist and the places of his childhood.
