The Parioli district in Rome
Everyone knows, at least by hearsay, the Parioli, and everyone knows that this term refers to one of the upper districts, in the sense of affluent, of Rome, but who or what does this name come from?
Looking at it now and strolling through the streets dominated by its elegant buildings may seem strange, yet in ancient times this area was covered with fruit trees.
Even if we are not absolutely sure, it seems that the toponym derives from the word "peraioli" , Indicating the large pear crops that once covered the three hills of Monticello, Valentine's Day and San Filippo , where long rows of vines were located from which to obtain the wine .
