A 166-million-year-old dinosaur bone has been discovered by a scientist off the coast of a small Scottish island.
Dr. Elsa Panciroli was rushing to meet her colleagues from the paleontology research team when she "stumbled" upon the fossil.
In Scotland, dinosaur bones have previously been rediscovered on the Isle of Skye.
However, scientists have been looking for bones like the one discovered by Dr. Elsa Panciroli for 200 years. With a length of 50 centimeters, the researchers believe that it belongs to the species of Stegosaurus, a herbivorous dinosaur that lived in the Jurassic Period.
According to the BBC, Dr. Panciroli, who works at the National Museum of Scotland, explains:"It was almost an accidental discovery. It was getting dark and I was running to catch up with the rest of the group, who had advanced quite a bit. I realized I had stumbled upon something unusual. It wasn't clear what species originally belonged to, but was undoubtedly a dinosaur bone.
