Jogendra Nath Mandal believed that the condition of Dalits among the majority of Hindus could never improve. Therefore, minority Muslims and Dalits who are fighting against Hindus can live like brothers in Pakistan. On his call, lakhs of crores of Dalits of Pakistan and Bangladesh not only remained there during the partition but lakhs of them went to Pakistan with him.
The founder of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, made Jogendra Nath Mandal the chairman of the first session of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan and he also became the first Law Minister of Pakistan. But soon the illusion of his Dalit Muslim brother Bhai was shattered. He himself fled to India in 1950, but under his delusion, millions of Dalit Hindus and Buddhists remained in Pakistan, today history has become.
Who was Jogendranath Mandal
Jogendra Nath Mandal was a Dalit and belonged to the Namshudra community. He had associated Dalits with the Muslim League in the pre-Partition politics. Due to these the Namasudras of Bengal had become a strong ally of the Muslim League from the 1930s onwards.
Jogendra Nath Mandal was born in Miskadi, Barisal district of Bengal. His mother's name was Sandhya and father's name was Ramdayal Mandal. Jogendra did his Inter in 1924 and B.A in 1929. a. After passing and completed his post graduation, first from Dhaka and later from Calcutta University. Due to being highly educated by Macaulay's English education system, he also became India's great civilization, culture, Hindu religion and anti-Hindu. First he remained in Congress, then he felt that Congress is only party of upper Hindus, so he joined Muslim League and due to his anti-Hindu mentality soon became one of the special members of Muslim League.
Jinna Prem of Jogendranath Mandal
Mandal was most influenced by Jinnah after Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. Presenting the blueprint of the future of Pakistan in his speech, Jinnah had announced to keep Pakistan apart from religion. In the same speech, Jinnah had said that "In course of time Hindus will cease to be Hindus and Muslims will cease to be Muslims. Not religiously, because religion is a private matter, but politically as a citizen of a country."
Jinnah had also said, “We are moving towards a period when no one will be discriminated against. No preference will be given to one community over the other. No caste or creed will be discriminated against.”
And that is why Jogendranath Mandal became a tussle on Jinnah and the Muslim League. Jogendra had merged Sylhet of Assam with Pakistan with his own power. After the declaration of 3 June 1947, Sylhet in Assam had to decide by referendum whether it would become part of Pakistan or India. The number of Hindu Muslims in that area was equal. Jinnah sent Mandal to the area. Mandal tilted the vote of Dalits there in favor of Pakistan, after which Sylhet became a part of Pakistan. Today Sylhet is in Bangladesh and the Dalits who made Sylhet Bangladesh are refugees in India.
Why Jogendranath Mandal chose Pakistan
Jogendranath Mandal, the working president of the Constituent Assembly and the first speaker, explained the reason for his choosing Pakistan. He said that he chose Pakistan because he believed that "the Muslim community has fought for their rights as a minority in India, so they will not only do justice to the minorities in their country but also show generosity to them". .
Jogendranath Mandal was a great follower of Babasaheb Ambedkar, but in his political interest, he completely forgot the teachings and principles of Babasaheb. The blind circle in political interest had no doubt that what Jinnah was saying was just an Islamic tactic to fool the infidels (non-Muslims) with the aim of tricking the infidels into deceit so that the right time came again for jihadist purposes. to be fulfilled.
Babasaheb Ambedkar was in favor of complete migration of Muslim and non-Muslim population to India-Pakistan divided on the basis of religion because he believed that Islam does not allow Muslims to treat non-Muslims in a friendly manner, non-Muslims and Muslims can never live together.
He said, "The Qur'an is opposed to befriending non-Muslims, that's why infidels deserve only hatred and enmity... Islamic law is anti-reform. He does not believe in secularism. According to Muslim laws, India (or Pakistan) cannot be the common homeland of Hindus and Muslims. (Proof Abstract Dr. Ambedkar Sampoorn Vagmay, English-Pakistan or the Partition of India).
Pakistan's Law Minister Jogendra Nath Mandal
After the partition of India, he went to Pakistan with his supporters. He was made the first Law and Labor Minister in Pakistan. After the partition in Pakistan, seeing the terrible atrocities on non-Muslims, massacres, loot, rapes and destruction of temples, soon the illusion of his Dalit Muslim brother Bhai was shattered. On protesting, he was called a traitor. Thousands of millions of Dalits were massacred, raped and forcibly converted in East and West Pakistan. Celebrations were held by taking women naked and taking out processions on the streets.
According to his son Jagdish Chandra Mandal, even when his father lived in Karachi, he was completely isolated when he was a minister. He goes on to say, “He trusted Jinnah in Pakistan and gave up everything in India hoping for a better future for Dalits, but after Jinnah he was made a politically untouchable in the same Pakistan.”
Mandal realized that the Pakistan which he had considered as his home was not fit for him to live in. Finally, on 8 October 1950, Mandal returned to India after tendering his resignation to the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan. In his resignation, he mentioned incidents related to social injustice and partisan treatment towards non-Muslim minorities.
Resignation and letter of Jogendranath Mandal
At the time of partition of India, crores of Hindus, Dalits, Buddhists, Sikhs, etc. were left in Pakistan depending on Gandhi and Mandal. Not only this, lakhs of Dalit Indians also went to Pakistan with Jogendranath Mandal, who believed that Muslims would support them. But what happened was that they were put to death, raped and forcibly converted. This shocking truth was written by the Law Minister Jogendranath Mandal in his resignation letter, some excerpts of which are here.
Mandal wrote in his letter, “There was a similar situation of Muslims and Dalits in Bengal. Both were backward, fishermen, uneducated. I was assured that with my cooperation with the League such steps would be taken which would benefit the large population of Bengal. Together we will lay such a foundation that will increase communal peace and harmony. For these reasons I supported the Muslim League.
In 1946, the Muslim League celebrated 'Direct Action Day' for the creation of Pakistan, after which there were fierce riots in Bengal. In the Calcutta and Noakhali massacres, many Hindus including backward castes were killed, hundreds accepted Islam (out of fear). Hindu women were raped, abducted. After that I visited the riot affected areas. I was overwhelmed by the terrible sufferings of Hindus, but still I continued the policy of cooperation with the Muslim League (such fools and traitors are Leftists).
In his letter, Mandal has mentioned many incidents of atrocities on Dalits in Pakistan. He wrote, 'The local Namoshudra people were brutally tortured on a false complaint of a Muslim in Digharkul near Gopalganj. Together with the police, the Muslims beat up the people of the Namoshudra community, raided the houses. A pregnant woman was thrashed so mercilessly that she miscarried on the spot.
The army and police also encouraged violence on innocent Hindus, especially the people of backward communities. Innocent men and women were beaten up in Habibgarh in Sylhet district. The army not only beat the people but also forced Hindu men to send their women to military camps so that they could fulfill the sensual desires of the army.
Armed police, army and local people mercilessly attacked the entire village in Kalshaira of Khulna district. Many women were raped by the police, army and local people. I visited Kalshaira and surrounding villages on 28 February 1950. When I came to Kalashaira, I saw that the place had turned into desolate and ruins. About 350 houses were demolished here. I informed you with facts.
During my nine-day stay in Dhaka, I visited the riot-affected areas. The killings of innocent Hindus on the trains and tracks between Dhaka Narayanganj and Dhaka Chantgaon shocked me deeply. I met the Chief Minister of East Bengal and urged him to take necessary steps to stop the spread of riots.
I reached Barisal on 20 February 1950. I was astonished to know about the events here. A large number of Hindus were burnt here. I visited almost all the riot affected areas in the district. In Madhapasha, 200 people died and 40 were injured in the landlord's house. There is a place Muladi, eyewitnesses saw a terrible hell here. Here 300 people were slaughtered. There they also saw the skeletons of dead bodies in the village, vultures and dogs were eating the dead bodies on the banks of the river. Here the girls were divided among themselves after killing all the men.
60 people were killed in Rajapur. All the Hindu shops were looted and set on fire in Babuganj. An estimated 10,000 people were killed in the East Bengal riots. My heart melted as I mourned the women and children around me. I asked myself, 'Did I come to Pakistan in the name of Islam?"
Jogendranath Mandal further wrote in his letter, “What is the situation in East Bengal today? After partition 5 lakh Hindus have left the country. After the boycott of Hindu lawyers, Hindu doctors, Hindu traders, Hindu shopkeepers by Muslims, they were forced to migrate for livelihood. I have come to know about the rape of backward caste girls by Muslims. Muslim buyers are not paying full price for the goods sold by Hindus. As a matter of fact there is no justice, no rule of law in Pakistan, that's why Hindus are worried.
Apart from East Pakistan, there is a similar situation in West Pakistan. After partition, there were 1 lakh backward caste people in West Punjab, a large number of them have been forcibly converted to Islam. I have got a list in which 363 temples and gurudwaras are in possession of Muslims. Some of these have been converted into cobbler shops, slaughterhouses and hotels. I have come to know that a large number of backward castes living in Sindh have been forcibly converted to Islam. The reason for all this is one, apart from following Hinduism, they have no fault.
Jogendra Nath Mandal wrote in the end, 'Keeping aside the full picture of Pakistan and that cruel and harsh injustice, my own experience is no less painful, painful ... as long as I am with you as a minister and under your leadership. It was not possible for me to turn down your request. But now I cannot carry more than this the burden of false appearances and untruths on my conscience. I have decided to offer you my resignation as your minister, which I am handing over to you. You are of course free to assign this position to anyone keeping in mind the purpose of the Islamic State." (Credits:Wikipedia)
Returning Mandal came to India
After coming to India from Pakistan in 1950, he spent most of his time in a very backward area of Calcutta till 1968. This was the marshy area of the then famous Rabindra Sarovar or Dakaria Lake. Earlier there were Dalit slums here. Mandal used to live in the same slums. Now after the land has dried up, it has become a colony for rich people.
Because of his past relations with Pakistan, people held him responsible for Partition and his current situation. People used to make fun of him and called him 'Jogan Ali Mulla' instead of Jogendranath Mandal. Still, in his desire to become a leader, he contested elections four times, but four times his bail was forfeited. He also tried to publish a small newspaper or magazine, but people did not give him any value. Jogendranath Mandal breathed his last in oblivion on October 5, 1968 in West Bengal.
