What map did John Cabot use?

There is no evidence that John Cabot used a map for his voyages across the North Atlantic. The maps available during his lifetime were mostly accurate in describing the lands around the Mediterranean and the North Sea, but they had much less detail about the Atlantic Ocean. Cabot, like other explorers of his time, relied heavily on his compass, knowledge of the stars, and observations of natural landmarks to chart his course.
