King Philip's War, also known as the Metacom's War, took place from 1675 to 1678 and was fought between English colonists and a coalition of Native American tribes led by Metacomet, sachem of the Wampanoag tribe. The war resulted in significant casualties on both sides and extensive destruction of Native American villages and English settlements. The war ended with the defeat of the Native American coalition, leading to further loss of Native American land and autonomy in the region.
Both wars had a profound impact on the relationship between English colonists and Native Americans in New England, leading to increased distrust, conflict, and displacement of Native American tribes.
