The strength of the British Army has fluctuated over the years, reaching its peak during World War II when it had over 5 million personnel. Prior to that, the army had a strength of around 250,000 soldiers in the early 20th century. In recent decades, the size of the British Army has declined, and as of 2022, it stands at approximately 138,000 regular and reserve personnel.
