Why did they invented Post-in notes?

Post-it notes were invented by accident. In 1968, Dr. Spencer Silver, a scientist at 3M, was working on a new type of adhesive. He created a weak adhesive that could be easily removed without damaging the surface it was applied to. Silver could not find a practical use for his invention.

Several years later, another 3M scientist named Arthur Fry was singing in a church choir. He was frustrated that his bookmarks would often fall out of his hymnal. He remembered Silver's adhesive and decided to try it as a bookmark. The Post-it note was born.

Post-it notes became a commercial success in the early 1980s. They are now used in offices and homes all over the world.
