What is the difference between D quarters and P quarters?

D quarters and P quarters are both valid quarters minted by the United States Mint, but they differ in their mint mark. The mint mark is a small letter that appears on the reverse of the coin, near the date.

* D quarters are minted at the Denver Mint in Denver, Colorado.

* P quarters are minted at the Philadelphia Mint in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

There is no difference in value between D quarters and P quarters. Both coins are worth 25 cents.

In addition to the mint mark, D quarters and P quarters can also be distinguished by their design. The obverse of both coins features a portrait of George Washington, but the reverse designs are different. The reverse of the D quarter features a mountain scene with a pine tree in the foreground, while the reverse of the P quarter features an eagle with a shield.
