The upper-class is the smallest of the three classes and includes the wealthiest and most powerful individuals and families in America. According to the Pew Research Center, the upper-class accounts for about 7% of the population.
Members of the upper-class typically have very high incomes, own expensive homes and cars, and have access to the best education, healthcare, and entertainment options. They often work in high-paying professions, such as finance, law, and medicine, or come from wealthy families.
The upper-class is often seen as being out of touch with the rest of society and may be perceived as aloof or snobbish. However, there are also many members of the upper-class who are actively involved in philanthropy and other charitable causes.
The Middle Class
The middle class is the largest of the three classes and includes a wide range of people, from relatively wealthy professionals to blue-collar workers. According to the Pew Research Center, the middle-class accounts for about 52% of the population.
Members of the middle-class typically have stable jobs that pay well enough to support a comfortable lifestyle. They may own their own homes and have some savings. They often have access to good education, healthcare, and entertainment options.
The middle-class is often seen as the backbone of American society and tends to be more politically moderate than the upper-class or working-class.
The Working Class
The working-class is the largest of the three classes and includes people who work in blue-collar jobs, such as manufacturing, construction, and transportation. According to the Pew Research Center, the working-class accounts for about 41% of the population.
Members of the working-class typically have lower incomes than those in the upper-class or middle-class and may have limited access to education, healthcare, and entertainment options. They often live in modest homes or apartments and may not have much savings.
The working-class is often seen as being more politically conservative than the middle-class upper-class.
